Crop Weather Report 08/07/2010
Soybean:
Soybean requires warm and moist climate,15-32 C for germination and for growth 30-33 C .It is photosensitive crop and therefore, sowing is to be completed before 15th of July. The progress is as under :
Madhya Pradesh
Among the soybean growing districts Shivpuri, Guna, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, Ujjain, Indore, Dewas, Shajapur, Harda, Khandwa, Seoni, Chindwara, Balaghat, Hosangabad, Sehore and Raisen, the temperature is ranging between 25-35 C and relative humidity is between 80-90 %. Rainfall pattern from middle of June to first week of July have been very much favourable for sowing ,germination and establishment. The information available also confirm the above pattern.
Maharashtra:
In the soybean growing districts Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Nanded, Yavatmal, Amravati, Sangli, Satara, Latur, Osmanabad, Kolhapur, Beed, Jalna, Parbhani, Nashik, Ahmadnagar, Buldhana, Jalgaon, Hingoli and Akola , temperature is ranging between 25-36 C and relative humidity between 75-90 % .The rainfall received in the last fortnight of June and in the first week of July have been very much congenial for the sowing and germination of the crop.
Rajasthan:
The recent rainfall received in the districts Pali, Rajasmand, Baran, Kota, Chittaurgarh, Jhalawar, Barmer and Udaipur benefitted the sowing of the soybean crop. However, the high temperature and low RH in some of the districts may affect the germination and growth of the crop.
The widespread rains and temperature regime is very much favourable for the soybean crop as a whole.

Castor:
Castor is a long day plant and requires high heat and humidity , rainfall of 500-600 mm. The progress of the crop is as under:
Gujarat:
Among the castor growing district Banaskantha, kachchh, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Junagarh, Rajkot, Suredranagar, Ahemdabad, Kheda, Gandhinagar and Vadodara ,the temperature is varying between 26-34 C and RH 75-90 %. The rainfall received and forecasted weather condition is very much favourable for the sowing of the crop and its proper germination.
Andhra Pradesh:
The temperature in the state is varying between 24-34 C and RH 80-90 % in the districts Karimganj, Medak, Rangareddy, Warangal, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Guntur and Prakasam. The rain received and forecasted weather conditions are very much favorable for the growth and development of the crop.
Tamil Nadu:
The castor producing district Vellore, Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Namakkal and Tiruchchirappalli where the temperature is varying between 25-36 C and RH 75-90 %.The rainfall received and forecasted rain will benefit the sown crop.

Turmeric:
The major producing states are Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Orissa. The crop is sown from April-July. Maize:
Maize crop requires optimum temperature of 12-30 C and 17.8 acre inch of water for completion of satisfactory life cycle. Against the above requirement the general condition prevailing among the Maize growing states are as under:
Rajasthan: In the districts (Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Banswara, Ajmer, Bundi, Bhilwara, Rajasmand) the temperature is varying between 30-39 C and the relative humidity is 65-85 % .The widespread rainfall is favourable for sowing, germination and establishment of the crop.
Uttar Pradesh : Among the district Bulandshar, Aligarh, Etah, Farukhabad, Hardoi, Unnao, Kannuj, Mainpuri, Gonda, Bahrich and Jaunpur the temperature is varying between 24-37 C and relative humidity is 80-90 %.The satisfactory rainfall is received among the “tarai” districts sowing is satisfactory, however, where rains are scanty sowing is delayed.

Andhra Pradesh: The rains received in the month of June was very much beneficial for sowing and germination and forecasted continuous rain will benefit the crop growth in the districts Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Krishna, West Godavari, Mahabubnagar and Guntur .

Mung :
The crop require 15 C for germination and 20-38 C for growth and development. Against the above requirement ,the statewise condition is as under:

The heavy rains received in Punjab and Haryana resulted flood and breach in SYL(Satluj-Yamuna Link) and submerged very large cropped area. The continuous rains aggravating the existing situation.

Sugarcane:

The temperature is ranging between 22-35 C and relative humidity 75-95 %. The recent rains received will be highly beneficial for October-November and December-February sown crop .The recent rains will also facilitate the July-August sowing.

Arhar:
Arhar crop required 650mm of rainfall and temperature ranging between temperature 18-27 C .In the western Uttar Pradesh districts Bulandshahar,Aligarh temperature is varying between 27-37 C. Short duration Arhar is sown under irrigated condition in the 1st week of June .The likely rainfall as forecasted may be beneficial for the crop.However in kheri Bahraich,Fatehpur,Barabanki,Kanpur,Jalun,Chitrakut,Banda,Pratapgarh,Allahabad,Mirzapur,Sonbhadra,Gazipur and Ballia, temperature is varying 27-35 C .The forecasted rainfall in coming days will facilitate the sowing of long duration crop.

Basmati Rice:
The temperature requirement for Basmati Rice for germination is 10 C and for growth 10-25 C and water requirement is very high. Against the above requirement the atmospheric and ground temperature of Sirsa, Kaithal, Kurkshetra, Panipat is varying from 25-37 C and 40-42 C .The rainfall is very scanty. High temperature adversely affect the seedling and its establishment after transplanting .The conditions in the districts of Punjab state i.e. Amritsar, Patiala, Rupnagar where the atmospheric and soil temperature and varying between 26-37 C and 39-41 C . Rainfall is very less.
Under the above weather conditions Basmati crop may be affected adversely.

Tea:
The temperatures ranges from 28-35 C which is higher in the districts Coimbatore, Nilgiri, Madurai, Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu state. However, rainfall received in the district will be congenial for July-Aug picking.
