Crop Weather Report 12/07/2010


Arhar
Arhar is a drought tolerant crop , photo-period sensitive and requires moist and humid condition for good vegetative growth. The conducive temperature is 15-20 C and requires 650 mm rainfall .
Against the above requirement of the crop statewise progress is given below:

Uttar Pradesh
Among the major growing districts Kher, Bhariach, Barabanki, Balia, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Allahabad, Paratapgarh, Chitrakoot, Banda, Fatehpur, Kanpur, Jaloan, Aligarh and Bulandshar the long duration arhar is sown from middle of June to middle of July. Due to late arrival of monsoon sowing is slightly delayed. However, recent forecasted rainfall and temperature between 24-36 C will facilitate the sowing .The weather condition forecasted is favourable for the germination and establishment of the crop .
The short duration Arhar is sown only in Aligarh and Bulandshar under irrigated condition in the first week of June. The present weather condition is favourable for the early sown crop.

Maharashtra
The widespread rainfall in the districts Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Jalna, Jalgaon, Beed, Osmanabad, Nanded and Parbhani ,the arhar sowing is in progress. The forecasted weather conditions are very much favourable for germination and establishment of the crop as temperature variation is 23-35 C.

Karnataka
The widespread early rains among the districts Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bellary, Bijapur, Belgaum, Dharwad, Devngere, Chitradurga, Tumkur and Kolar facilitated the sowing of the crop. The moderate temperature 19-34 C and forecasted rainfall will be helpful for the growth of the crop.

Madhya Pradesh
The weather condition prevailing in the districts (Sidhi, Jabalpur, Chindwara, Betul and Narsimhpur ) is very much favourable for the germination and establishment of the crop.

Gujarat
Sowing is slightly delayed in the districts Dahod, Narmada, Surat, Vadodara and Bharuch. However, the recent rainfall is very much favorable for the sowing of the crop.

Cotton
Sowing of cotton crop in the state of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan undertaken in the 4th week of May to first week of June .The early sown crop can tolerate the temperature upto 40-45 C. As per report available,the crop was very good .The recent widespread rainfall help in the vegetative growth of the crop which is not affected due to flood.
The recent flood particularly in Punjab and Haryana where flood water stagnated and submerged ,the crop will be seriously damaged.

In central and southern India sowing is in progress, statewise details are given as under :
Maharashtra
The rain received in the districts (Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani and Nanded ) is very much helpful for sowing and germination of the crop.
Reports are received that due to heavy rainfall at some places re-sowing is in progress .

Gujarat
The widespread rainfall among the districts Kachchh, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkanta, Gandhinagar, Suredranagar, Ahmednagar, Vadodara, Narmada, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Junagarh, Amreli, Rajkot and Jamnagar is helpful in sowing of hybrid cotton and varieties.
The weather condition forecasted will be helpful for the cotton crop germination and growth.

Andhra Pradesh
The sowing is undertaken among the districts (Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Guntur, Nalgonda and Warangal) from July-August in black cotton and red soil. The weather forecast for widespread rain and moderate temperature will be helpful for the sowing,germination and establishment of the crop.

Basmati Rice

Basmati rice is transplanted in the first week of July among the districts of Punjab( Amritsar, Rupnagar, Patiala) and Haryana( Sirsa, Kaithal, Kurekshetra, Ambala, Karnal, Sonipat and Panipat) as the crop requires humid and moderate climate. The widespread rains is very congenial for the transplanting and establishment of the crop.

Crop Weather Report 09/07/2010


Kharif Onion:
Kharif onion crop requires 10-11 hr. sunshine,20-25 C for seedling growth and 15-21 C for vegetative growth.

Maharastra

Among the districts(Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune and Satara). The temperature is varying between 22-35 C. The present weather condition and the rainfall will be highly beneficial for transplanting and establishment of onion seedling.

Andhra Pradesh
Onion is transplanted among the districts Srikakulam, Mahbubnagar, Kurnool and Cuddapah in the month of May and June .The temperature is varying between 22-35 C and regular rainfall will benefit the crop growth.

Tamil Nadu
Onion transplanting is completed in April-May in the district Coimbatore, Teni, Namakkal, Salem and Dharmapuri . The temperature is varying between 25-36 C and RH 80-90 %.The rainfall received and prevailing weather conditions will facilitated the growth of crop.

Karnataka
Among the districts (Dharwar, Bagalkot, Bijapur and Kolar) transplanting of onion is in progress .The temperature is varying between 20-32 C RH is 80-90 % . The current rainfall temperature is very much favourable for crop establishment and growth.

In the state of Gujarat and Rajasthan the seed is sown in the nursery .The crop will be transplanted by the end of August when temperature will recede .

Chilli

Chilli crop is transplanted in three season,winter( July-September), summer crop (February -March) and mid season (May-June).

Tamil Nadu

Urad:

Maharashtra:

Soybean:

Soybean requires warm and moist climate,15-32 C for germination and for growth 30-33 C .It is photosensitive crop and therefore, sowing is to be completed before 15th of July. The progress is as under :

Madhya Pradesh

Among the soybean growing districts Shivpuri, Guna, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, Ujjain, Indore, Dewas, Shajapur, Harda, Khandwa, Seoni, Chindwara, Balaghat, Hosangabad, Sehore and Raisen, the temperature is ranging between 25-35 C and relative humidity is between 80-90 %. Maharashtra:

Castor:
Castor is a long day plant and requires high heat and humidity , rainfall of 500-600 mm. The progress of the crop is as under:

Gujarat:

Tamil Nadu:

Maize:

Maize crop requires optimum temperature of 12-30 C and 17.8 acre inch of water for completion of satisfactory life cycle. Against the above requirement the general condition prevailing among the Maize growing states are as under:
Rajasthan: In the districts (Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Banswara, Ajmer, Bundi, Bhilwara, Rajasmand) the temperature is varying between 30-39 C and the relative humidity is 65-85 % .The widespread rainfall is favourable for sowing, germination and establishment of the crop.

Uttar Pradesh : Among the district Bulandshar, Aligarh, Etah, Farukhabad, Hardoi, Unnao, Kannuj, Mainpuri, Gonda, Bahrich and Jaunpur the temperature is varying between 24-37 C and relative humidity is 80-90 %.The satisfactory rainfall is received among the “tarai” districts sowing is satisfactory, however, where rains are scanty sowing is delayed.

Madhya Pradesh: Among the districts Chindwara, Betul, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Sidhi and Shivpuri the temperature is varying between 22-35 C and relative humidity 80 -90 % . Karnataka: The temperature is varying between 22-33 C and relative humidity is 75-90% in maize growing districts Belgaum, Haveri, Bellary, Gadag, Bagalkot, Hassan and Shimoga .Rain receipt is very much congenial for the crop. Due to early receipt of rains, sowing progress is satisfactory.

Sugarcane:

Arhar:

Arhar crop required 650mm of rainfall and temperature ranging between temperature 18-27 C .In the western Uttar Pradesh districts Bulandshahar,Aligarh temperature is varying between 27-37 C. Short duration Arhar is sown under irrigated condition in the 1st week of June .The likely rainfall as forecasted may be beneficial for the crop.However in kheri Bahraich,Fatehpur,Barabanki,Kanpur,Jalun,Chitrakut,Banda,Pratapgarh,Allahabad,Mirzapur,Sonbhadra,Gazipur and Ballia, temperature is varying 27-35 C .The forecasted rainfall in coming days will facilitate the sowing of long duration crop.

Basmati Rice:

The temperature requirement for Basmati Rice for germination is 10 C and for growth 10-25 C and water requirement is very high. Against the above requirement the atmospheric and ground temperature of Sirsa, Kaithal, Kurkshetra, Panipat is varying from 25-37 C and 40-42 C .The rainfall is very scanty. High temperature adversely affect the seedling and its establishment after transplanting .The conditions in the districts of Punjab state i.e. Amritsar, Patiala, Rupnagar where the atmospheric and soil temperature and varying between 26-37 C and 39-41 C . Rainfall is very less.
Under the above weather conditions Basmati crop may be affected adversely.

Mung:

The temperature requirement for germination and growth of mung crop is 15 C and 28-38 C .The high atmospheric and ground temperature is unfavourable for the crop .The sowing in Andhra Pradesh ,Bihar, Karnataka,Tamil Nadu is in progress wherever rains are received .However in Northern India , Punjab , Rajasthan , Haryana and Uttar Pradesh mung sowing is badly affected .The sowing of the crop is to be completed by the 15th of July for better yield.
