Mustard

Dry weather and cool nights in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will favour the crop production that is in germination to flowering stage. Mustard planting in the northern states was 18.5% lower than the target of 3.2 million hectares by December 2, but is 23% higher than last year's coverage.

The arrivals of Arhar from Karnataka and other major growing regions are gaining momentum. Harvesting and post harvesting operations are near completion in Uttar Pradesh. Arhar crop was adversely affected by untimely rains in parts of Maharashtra and AP. Yield will not be on the expected lines this year.

Chana

It requires cool temperature for growth (15-25 C). Severe frost is harmful for its growth and development. Heavy rain at the time of germination will cause severe damage to the crop. The cloudy and precipitative weather conditions in north Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha region will negatively affect the crop. However, optimum climatic conditions in Madhya Pradesh will be helpful for the crop growth.
