Sugarcane North:
In northern India sugarcane sowing is undertaken from February-March. The crop requires annual rainfall of 200-300 cm of rainfall for best growth . The statewise progress as per weather condition are given as under:
Uttar Pradesh
The rain received among the major cane producing districts (Saharanpur, Muzaffarpur, Bijnor, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Bulandshar, Aligarh, Badaun,Bijnor,Bareilly, Moradabad, Pilibhit,Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi,Farrukhabad, Sitapur, Behraich, Balrampur, Gonda, Barabamnki, Faizabad, Basti, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh and Maharajganj ) for the last 10 days varied between 47-103 mm and temperature between 25-32 C. The prevailing weather condition is favorable for the development of the cane. However, the forecasted rainfall and humid hot condition may boost the growth of the crop.
Bihar
Among the cane producing districts (West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj) rain for the last 10 days amounted 24-32 mm and temperature between 26-34 C. The poor rainfall may affect the growth of the crop. However, it is forecasted that rain will be received in the upcoming fortnight which may be congenial for the development of the cane.
Haryana
In the districts Kaithal, Karnal, Jind, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Faridabad, the rain received in the last 10 days between 37-119 mm and temperature between 25-27 C . The prevailing weather condition and forecasted rain will benefit the growth of the crop. Similar weather condition continued in Punjab( Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur) which is also beneficial for the crop.

Sesamum requires 25-27 C for germination and higher temperature for crop growth and 650 mm of rainfall.
Maharshtra

Andhra Pradesh
Among the major growing districts Adilabad, Warangal,East Godavari, Vishakhapatnam, Prakasam, Nalgonda and Guntur rainfall and temperature varied from 37-207mm and 23-33 C except in Prakasam (18.6 mm). The humid hot condition and the rainfall will boost the growth of the crop.
Tamil Nadu
Villupuram, Thanjavur and Erode temperature varies between 21-35 C and rainfall between 4-25 mm. Low rainfall and high temperature may adversely affect the growth of the crop.
Rajasthan
Hanumannagar, Bundi, Tonk, Chitturgarh, Pali, Jalor, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Baran. temperature varies between 25-32 C and rainfall between 80-217mm. During this year the rainfall received and mild temperature as well forecasted rainfall will boost the growth of the crop.

Punjab
The rain received and the temperature varied for the last ten days in the major cotton growing districts Faridkot, Muktsar, Bhatinda, Ferozpur, Mansa is 33-54mm and 26-34 C. The continuance of humid ,hot condition and limited rainfall is very much congenial for the flowering of the crop and pollination. Maharashtra

Tea
Among the major tea producing districts of Kerala(Kannur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Kottayam, Kollam, Wayanad and Thiruvanthapuram) and Karnataka (Hassan, Chikmagalur and Medikari) received good amount of rainfall between 41-409 mm and temperature between 19-29 C. Crop is in 3rd monsoon harvest (July-August) is under progress .The continuing weather condition is favorable for fresh bud and juvenile leaf development. The regular rain received will boost the production.
The forecasted mild rains in the districts of Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Madurai and Nilgiri) between 10-15mm except in Nilgiri where rainfall was 151mm.The temperature varied(19-33 C) .The less rainfall may affect the production

Turmeric

Cashew

Crop Weather Report 05-08-2010
Mung
The crop require 15 C for germination,20-38 C for growth and development and 12-13 hours day length for flowering.
Against the above requirement ,the statewise condition is as under:
Andhra Pradesh:The temperature is varying between 24-31 C and the relative humidity between 75-90%. In the mung growing districts Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, EastGodavari, Krishna, Srikakulam, the cumulative rain received in the last ten days varied between 27-149mm. The temperature,rainfall and humidity is very much favourable for the growth and initiation of flowering.
Maharashtra: In the major mung growing districts (Dhule, Jalgaon,Amravati, Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Aurangabad, Jalna, Nanded and Beed) the temperature and rainfall in the last ten days varied between 22-30 C and 55-179mm. The temperature is optimum and rainfall is favourable for the completion of vegetative growth of the crop.
Karnataka:The major growing districts Gulbarga, Bijapur, Belgaum, Dharwad and Haveri received cumulative rainfall and temperature varied between 38-375 mm and 21-29 C. Crop is in vegetative phase and above temperature and rainfall will facilitated the flowering of the crop. Excess rain water should be drained out from the mung plots because crop is very much susceptible to water logging.
Rajasthan: The major growing districts Jhunjhunun, Churu, Nagaur, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalor, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Tonka and Jaipur received good amount of rainfall from middle of July. Maize
Andhra Pradesh
Among the maize producing districts Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Krishna, West Godavari, Mahabubnagar, Guntur ,the widespread rain forecasted will be beneficial for the growth of the crop.

Arhar
Uttar Pradesh

Due to late arrival of monsoon sowing is slightly delayed. However, hot and humid condition continued among the above districts and sporadic rainfall helped good vegetative growth as crop do not require high rainfall.
The short duration Arhar is sown only in Aligarh and Bulandshar under irrigated condition in the first week of June. The above districts received good rainfall which boost up the vegetative growth.
Maharashtra
The widespread rainfall received in the districts Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Jalna, Jalgaon, Beed, Osmanabad, Nanded and Parbhani helped in the completion of arhar sowing. The persisting humid and hot condition and rainfall is favourable for the growth of the crop .
Excess rain water should be drained out from the arhar plots because it is deep rooted crop and water stagnation adversely affect the crop.
Karnataka
The widespread early rains among the districts Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bellary, Bijapur, Belgaum, Dharwad, Devngere, Chitradurga, Tumkur and Kolar is favourable for the establishment and growth of the crop.

Madhya Pradesh

Basmati Rice

Cardamom
Cardamom is cultivated above 2500-5000 ft msl under good drainage condition .The crop is in flowering which commences from April-May and continued upto July-August. Crop requires 1500-2250 mm well distributed rainfall, cool constantly moist but not water logged condition. Good drainage is required. The optimum temperature for the crop is 10-32 C.

The weather is favourable for the development of fruit from the late flowers. However, late receipt of monsoon affected the early flowering and fruit development .
Tamil Nadu
The mild rainfall received in the major growing districts of Tamil Nadu ( Coimbatore ,Nilgiris and Teni) between 20-185 mm which will be helpful for flowering and fruit development.

Karnataka

The widespread rainfall is received in last 10 days in the states of Maharshtra , Andhra Pradesh , Chattisgarh , West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, which facilitated sowing from middle of June to end of July. The continuance of mild weather and rainfall have been favourable for early growth of the crop.
The late receipt of rainfall in Rajasthan have delayed the sowing .However, the prevailing weather condition is congenial for late sowing,germination and establishment of the crop.

Gujarat
The cumulative last ten days rainfall varied from 103-378 mm among the major growing districts Banaskantha, Kachchh, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Junagarh, Rajkot, Suredranagar, Ahemdabad, Kheda, Gandhinagar and Vadodara.
It is also forecasted that there may be high intensity of rainfall. Excess rain water should not continously stand in the field. It must be drained out because castor crop is a deep rooted crop and likely to be damaged with excess water.
Rajasthan
Among the major growing districts ( Hanumamgarh, Jodhpur, Barmer, Pali, Jalor and Sirohi) the widespread rainfall from the middle of July was congenial for completion of sowing. The forecasted rainfall and mild weather condition is very much favourable for the growth and development of the crop.
Tamil Nadu
Among the major growing districts Vellore, Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Namakkal and Tiruchchirappalli the continuing mild weather condition is good for the growth and development of the crop.
Karnataka
High rainfall received for the last ten days among the districts Bellary, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Hassan, Mandya, Mysore and Bangalore and moderate climate is favourable for the growth and development however, excess rain water should not stagnate in the standing crop and it should be drained out.
Andhra Pradesh
The widespread rainfall received in Karimganj, Medak, Rangareddy, Warangal, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Guntur and Prakasam, forecasted rainfall and mild weather is congenial for the growth of the crop.
The mild weather condition in Maharasthra and Orissa and forecasted rainfall
among both the states will boost the early growth of the castor crop.
