Crop Weather Report 05/08/2010


Mung :
The crop require 15 C for germination,20-38 C for growth and development and 12-13 hours day length for flowering.

Against the above requirement ,the statewise condition is as under:

Andhra Pradesh:The temperature is varying between 24-31 C and the relative humidity between 75-90%. In the mung growing districts Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, EastGodavari, Krishna, Srikakulam, the cumulative rain received in the last ten days varied between 27-149mm. The temperature,rainfall and humidity is very much favourable for the growth and initiation of flowering.

Maharashtra: In the major mung growing districts (Dhule, Jalgaon,Amravati, Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Aurangabad, Jalna, Nanded and Beed) the temperature and rainfall in the last ten days varied between 22-30 C and 55-179mm. The temperature is optimum and rainfall is favourable for the completion of vegetative growth of the crop.

Karnataka:The major growing districts Gulbarga, Bijapur, Belgaum, Dharwad and Haveri received cumulative rainfall and temperature varied between 38-375 mm and 21-29 C. Crop is in vegetative phase and above temperature and rainfall will facilitated the flowering of the crop. Excess rain water should be drained out from the mung plots because crop is very much susceptible to water logging.

Rajasthan: The major growing districts Jhunjhunun, Churu, Nagaur, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalor, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Tonka and Jaipur received good amount of rainfall from middle of July. The cumulative rain received 40-213 mm and temperature from 26-33 C. The prevailing weather condition and forecasted rainfall will be helpful for the establishment and growth of the crop.

Gujarat
In the districts Banaskantha, Mahesana, Rajkot cumulative rain received in the last ten days(180-265mm) and temperature 25-31 C. Crop was sown late due to late receipt of monsoon ,the crop is in early growth stage. The excess rain water should be drained out from the mung plots because crop is very much susceptible to water logging .

The late receipt of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar delayed the sowing .However, the prevailing weather condition is favourable for the growth of the crop.

Black Pepper
The crop remain in flowering from May to August,which requires moderate temperature and frequent rainfall with good drainage for the berry development . The state wise details are given as under :

Kerala
The major pepper producing districts Kannur, Kasargod ,Kozikhode, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvanthapuram received good amount of rainfall and temperature which varied between 46-519mm and 20-26 C. The prevailing weather condition is very much favourable for both berry development and continuance of good flowering. Rain water should not stagnate in the base of the vines.

Tamil Nadu
Among the major pepper producing districts Namakkal, Nilgiris and Dindigur have temperature varied between 19-32 C . However the districts received less rainfall except Nilgiri (188mm) in the last ten days. The continuance of dry weather may affect the flowering however Nilgiri flowering and berry development will be very good.

Guar

Rajasthan
The major growing districts Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu , Bikaner , Jaipur, Sikar , Jhunjhunu , Jaiselmer, Barmer, Jodhpur and Dausa received widespread rainfall between 50-104mm and mild temperature 26-35 C. The humid hot condition and good amount of rainfall received will boost the early growth of the crop.

Gujarat
The major guar producing districts Patan, Sabarkantha , Mahesena , Banaskantha and Kachchh received fair amount of rainfall from 135-251mm and temperature from 24-30 C. The prevailing weather condition is conducive for early growth of the crop.

Haryana
The rainfall forecasted in the major growing districts Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Sirsa will facilitate the early growth of the crop.
