Arhar
Uttar Pradesh
Among the major growing districts Kheri, Bhariach, Barabanki, Balia, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Allahabad, Paratapgarh, Chitrakoot, Banda, Fatehpur, Kanpur, Jaloan, Aligarh and Bulandshar the long duration arhar is sown from middle of June to middle of July. Due to late arrival of monsoon sowing is slightly delayed. However, hot and humid condition continued among the above districts and sporadic rainfall helped good vegetative growth as crop do not require high rainfall.
The short duration Arhar is sown only in Aligarh and Bulandshar under irrigated condition in the first week of June. The above districts received good rainfall which boost up the vegetative growth.
Maharashtra
The widespread rainfall received in the districts Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Jalna, Jalgaon, Beed, Osmanabad, Nanded and Parbhani helped in the completion of arhar sowing. The persisting humid and hot condition and rainfall is favourable for the growth of the crop .
Excess rain water should be drained out from the arhar plots because it is deep rooted crop and water stagnation adversely affect the crop.
Karnataka
The widespread early rains among the districts Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bellary, Bijapur, Belgaum, Dharwad, Devngere, Chitradurga, Tumkur and Kolar is favourable for the establishment and growth of the crop.
Excess rain water should be drained out from the arhar plots.
Madhya Pradesh
The forecasted weather condition in the districts (Sidhi, Jabalpur, Chindwara, Betul and Narsimhpur ) is very much favourable for the growth of the crop.
Gujarat
The rain received and continued hot and humid weather condition prevailing in the districts Dahod, Narmada, Surat, Vadodara and Bharuch will be helpful for the growth of the crop.
The heavy rain received and forecasted rain water should not stagnate in the field and it should be drained out because arhar crop is very much susceptible for water logging.

Turmeric
In the major producing states Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Dhamapuri, Villupparam and Vellore), Andhra Pradesh (Kurnool, Guntur, East Godavari, West Godavari, Warangal, Krishna, Rangareddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Chuddapah), Karnataka (Belgaun, Bagalkot, Mysore and Chamrajnagar), Maharashtra(Sangli and Satara) and Orissa (Koratpur, Kalahandi, Pulbani, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Kendujhargarh and Balasur) sowing is undertaken from April-July and crop remain in various stages of growth and development for seven months. The late receipt of the monsoon affected the initial growth of early sown crop. However, widespread rain from middle of June and humid condition being continued, will compensate for early slow growth. It is expected that during this year turmeric production will be better.
