Crop Weather Report 02/08/2010
Chilli
Chilli crop is transplanted in three seasons,winter crop( July-September), summer crop (February -March) and mid season crop (May-June). Summer crop harvesting is done for green chilli.
Tamil Nadu
Among the major chilli growing district Salem, Coimbatore, Viluppuram and Cuddalore
received the rainfall for the last ten days which varied from12-20 mm and temperature 20-31 C.
Forecasted mild rainfall will be helpful for transplanting and establishment. Weather condition is favourable for green chili production from summer crop.
Andhra Pradesh
Among the major growing districts Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, East godavari, Srikakulam, Nalgonda, Guntur, Kunnor, Anantpur and Chitoor the temperature is varied between 24-31 C and cumulative rainfall for the last ten days varied between 56-187mm. The weather condition is favourable for the transplanting which is done(July-September) of winter crop.
Widespread rainfall and mild climate will boost the production of green chili
of summer crop.
Heavy rain is forecasted. Excess rain water should be drained out of the field for proper airation.
Karnataka
Among the major growing districts Chitradurga, Gadag, Tumkur, Bijapur, Belgaum, Dharwar, Haveri and Bellary the rainfall varied for ten days is 52-566mm. The transplanting(July-September) of winter crop is in progress. Excess rain water should be drained out of the field. The present weather condition is favourable for transplanting and establishment of the crop.
Mild temperature and rainfall will boost the production of green chili from summer crop which was transplanted in the month of February and March.
Excess rain water should be drained out of the field for proper airation.
Maharashtra
With the widespread rainfall transplanting of chilli in the major growing districts Amravati, Nanded, Aurangabad and Ahmednagar is in progress. Weather is favourable for the establishment ,development of transplanted crop which will be continued upto September. The mild weather may boost the production of green chilli from summer crop.

Sesamum:
The widespread rainfall is received in last 10 days in the states of Maharshtra , Andhra Pradesh , Chattisgarh , West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, which facilitated sowing from middle of June to end of July. The continuance of mild weather and rainfall have been favourable for early growth of the crop.
The late receipt of rainfall in Rajasthan have delayed the sowing .However, the prevailing weather condition is congenial for late sowing,germination and establishment of the crop.

Castor:
Gujarat
The cumulative last ten days rainfall varied from 103-378 mm among the major growing districts Banaskantha, Kachchh, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Junagarh, Rajkot, Suredranagar, Ahemdabad, Kheda, Gandhinagar and Vadodara.
It is also forecasted that there may be high intensity of rainfall. Excess rain water should not continously stand in the field. It must be drained out because castor crop is a deep rooted crop and likely to be damaged with excess water.
Rajasthan
Among the major growing districts ( Hanumamgarh, Jodhpur, Barmer, Pali, Jalor and Sirohi) the widespread rainfall from the middle of July was congenial for completion of sowing. The forecasted rainfall and mild weather condition is very much favourable for the growth and development of the crop.
Tamil Nadu
Among the major growing districts Vellore, Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Namakkal and Tiruchchirappalli the continuing mild weather condition is good for the growth and development of the crop.
Karnataka
High rainfall received for the last ten days among the districts Bellary, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Hassan, Mandya, Mysore and Bangalore and moderate climate is favourable for the growth and development however, excess rain water should not stagnate in the standing crop and it should be drained out.
Andhra Pradesh
The widespread rainfall received in Karimganj, Medak, Rangareddy, Warangal, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Guntur and Prakasam, forecasted rainfall and mild weather is congenial for the growth of the crop.
The mild weather condition in Maharasthra and Orissa and forecasted rainfall
among both the states will boost the early growth of the castor crop.
