Crop Weather Report 29/07/2010


Groundnut:

Gujarat
Among the districts Surat, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Surendranagar, Sabarkantha the temperature is ranging between 25-31 C and relative humidity is ranging 80-90 %.The rainfall received for last ten days varied between 117-312 mm . The continuing and forecasted weather condition indicate more rainfall. Early sown crop will be favourably influenced for the growth and establishment of the crop. Weather is also favourable for the completion of sowing .

Rajasthan
The cumulative rainfall and temperature for the last ten days varied between 70-105 mm and temperature 26-35 C among the districts Sikar, Tonk, Jodhpur and Bikaner. The late arrival of rains delayed the sowing. However, the prevailing weather condition are very much favourable for sowing, germination and establishment of the crop.

Karnataka
The major growing districts Bijapur, Belgaum, Gadag, Bellary, Kolar, Chitradurga and Tumkur received rainfall earlier that enabled for sowing in the end of June and first week of July. The cumulative rain received in last ten days varied between 24 - 464 mm. Groundnut crop does not requires heavy rain and stagnation of water in the field. Therefore drainage of excess water from the field is essential and wherever rain are normal growth will be satisfactory.

The major groundnut growing districts of Tamil Nadu(Vellore, Erode and Namakkal) received less rainfall and temperature varied between 22-31 C .Due to early receipt of rainfall sowing was is almost completed and crop is in growth stage. The mild temperature and less rainfall is also very much helpful for the growth and pegging of the crop.

The widespread rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab facilitated the growth of the early sown crop. Excess rain water should be drained out to avoid stagnation in the field otherwise crop growth will be hampered.

Black pepper

The flowering is continued from May to August, which requires moderate temperature and intermittent rainfall with good drainage for the berry development . The state wise details are given as under :

Kerala
The major pepper producing districts Kannur, Kasargod ,Kozikhode, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvanthapuram received good amount of rainfall however it is forecasted that
heavy rainfall likely to takes place. Excess rain water may affect the crop therefore, utmost care is taken to drain out the excess rain water.

Tamil Nadu
Among the major pepper producing districts Namakkal, Nilgiris and Dindigul received fair amount of
rainfall which is very much congenial for flowering and berry development .

The rainfall received in both the above states is also helpful for the establishment of new rooted saplings.

Guar

Rajasthan
The major growing districts Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu , Bikaner , Jaipur, Sikar , Jhunjhunu , Jaiselmer, Barmer, Jodhpur and Dausa received widespread rainfall and mild temperature which is very much congenial for growth and establishment of the crop.

Gujarat
The major guar producing districts Patan, Sabarkantha , Mahesena , Banaskantha and Kachchh received fair amount of rainfall which is very much congenial for the growth and development of the crop.

Haryana
The widespread rainfall in the major growing districts Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Sirsa facilitated growth and development of the crop.
Rain water should not stagnate and must be drained out because guar crop is very much susceptible and it may be damaged if excess water stay in the field for longer period.
