Maize
Kharif Maize is sown in the month of June-July in most of the states except northern hill where it is sown in the month of April-May. Andhra Pradesh
Among the districts Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Krishna, West Godavari, Mahabubnagar, Guntur the cumulative rainfall for the last 10 days varied between 78-100 mm. The widespread rain is very much beneficial for the sowing and growth of the crop.
Among the other maize growing states Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh received fair amount of rainfall in the last 10 days due to active moonsoon. The sowing is in progress although little late. However, proper moisture content will benefit the germination and establishment of the crop.
In Rajasthan state amount of rainfall received among the maize growing districts Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Banswara, Ajmer, Bundi, Bhilwara, Rajasmand varied between 25-51mm which is less as per requirement of the crop. The persisting high temperature and less rainfall may affect the germination and establishment of the crop .
