Crop Weather Report 21/07/2010
Cotton:
The widespread rain received in the major growing districts of Punjab( Faridkot, Bhatinda, Mansa, Ferozpur, Mukhtsar) will facilitate square formation and growth of the crop wherever crop is not affected due to flood, the weather condition is very much congenial for crop development as a whole.
The rains received in the month of July in the major cotton growing districts of Gujarat, Maharasthra and Andhra Pradesh have helped the sowing of hybrid and other cotton long staple varieties. The forecasted weather condition will be helpful for the establishment and growth of the crop .

Sesamum
It is grown in June and July purely as a rainfed crop in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Chattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh , Rajasthan. The rain received in the second fortnight of June in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra facilitated sowing and germination. Where as late receipt of monsoon in other states delayed the sowing of sesamum crop .
The forecasted widespread rains among the above states will help the better crop condition and may boost the production during this year.

Cardamom
Among the major districts of Kerala(Kasorgod, Palakkad ,Wayanad ,Iddukki and Pathanamthitta) and Karnataka(Shimoga, Chikmanglore, Hassan and Kodagu)
Cardamom is cultivated above 2500-5000 ft msl under good drainage condition .The crop is in flowering which commences from April-May and continued upto July-August. The rain received and also forecasted regular rain will help the fruit development and also boost the production.
The rainfall received in the major growing districts of Tamil Nadu ( Coimbatore ,Nilgiris and Teni) will be also helpful for flowering and fruit development .
The weather condition as a whole is also very much beneficial for fresh transplanting which is done normally in June-July.
