Crop Weather Report 27/07/2010


Onion
Kharif onion crop requires 10-11 hr. sunshine and 15-21 C for vegetative growth.

Maharastra
Among the districts(Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune and Satara) at present , the temperature is varying between 21-27 C. The cumulative rainfall received for the last ten days is in between 174-401mm except in Ahmednagar where cumulative rainfall was only 40 mm. The weather condition is very much favourable for the transplanting and establishment of seedling. It is also forecasted that rain will be continued which will facilitate further transplanting.

Andhra Pradesh
Onion is transplanted among the districts Srikakulam, Mahbubnagar, Kurnool and Cuddapah in the month of May and June .The temperature is varying between 22-30 C and cumulative rainfall for the last ten days varied between 70-91 mm.The present and forecasted weather condition will be very much congenial for the growth of the crop.

Tamil Nadu
Onion transplanting is completed in April-May in the district Coimbatore, Teni, Namakkal, Salem and Dharmapuri . The temperature is varying between 18-30 C. The cumulative rain varied between 12-87 mm wherever rains are scanty that requires irrigation to boost the crop. However, overall weather is favourable for the crop.

Karnataka
Among the districts (Dharwar, Bagalkot, Bijapur and Kolar) transplanting of onion is in progress .The temperature is varying between 21-27 C . The cumulative rain varied between 27-211 mm. The present weather condition is favourable for transplanting and establishment of seedling.

In the state of Gujarat and Rajasthan the seed is sown in the nursery .The widespread rain and receding temperature will be helpful for the growth of nursery.

The overall condition due to widespread monsoon congenial temperature and RH will be helpful for boosting the production of onion in the country.

Basmati Rice

Haryana
Basmati Rice producing districts (Sirsa, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat) received cumulative rainfall for the last ten days which varied between 85-131 mm and temperature variation was 25-34 C . The forecasted and present weather condition are very much favourable for the initial growth and development of the crop.
In the flood affected areas re-transplanting is in progress which is supported by regular rainfall.

Punjab
The major basmati producing districts (Amritsar, Rupnagar and Patiala) received the cumulative ten days rainfall which varied between 105-180 mm. Weather condition is favourable, however flood affected fields required re-transplanting .The forecasted rainfall and temperature will be helpful for the established crop as well as for transplanting.

Sugarcane South
In south India planting of sugarcane is done in January-February . In addition Maharashtra and Karnataka planting is done in December-February, October-November and July-August. The widespread rain from middle of the June and continued hot humid condition boost the grand growth stage of early sown crop. The continuing rainfall will provide sufficient moisture for July-August planting.

The widespread rain received and forecasted rain will boost the overall production in the country.
