Crop Weather report 13/07/2010
Black Pepper
The crop is in flowering which has started from May and will continued upto August,during this period crop requires moderate temperature and light rainfall. The state wise details are given as under :
Kerala
The major pepper producing districts Kannur, Kasargod ,Kozikhode, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvanthapuram received cumulative rainfall for the last 10 days is 90-100mm which is very much congenial for flowering and berry development, except for Kasargod where rainfall was 249 mm which may affect the crop. Similarly the low rainfall in Trivandrum may also affect the berry formation.
Tamil Nadu
Among the major pepper producing districts Namakkal, Nilgiris and Dindigul. The rainfall received in past 10 days is 65 mm which is beneficial for the berry development.
The rainfall and moderate temperature continuing in both the states is favorable for the planting of
rooted cutting for fresh crop.

Cardamom
Flowering in cardamom commences from April-May and continue till July-Aug .The statewise progress
is as under:
Kerala
Among the cardamom producing districts rainfall for the last 10 days varied between 92-118 mm except for Kasargod where rainfall was 249 mm. In general, the mild temperature and light rainfall in most of the districts will highly benefit the berry development.
Tamil Nadu
Among the cardamom producing districts Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Teni. The rainfall is relatively less ie. Coimbatore(48mm), Nilgiris(65mm), Teni(70mm) in the last 10 days. Widespread rainfall and moderate humid condition are beneficial for the flowering and berry development.
Karnataka
The cardamom producing districts received rainfall for the last 10 days Shimoga(152mm), Chikmanglore(204mm), Hassan(119mm) which is very much congenial for continued flowering and berry development.

Cashew
Cashew crop best adopted to costal regions and requires rainfall 600-4500 mm rainfall .The suitable temperature is 28 C is best for growth however, it can tolerate the temperature upto 36 C.
The major producing states are Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu , Orissa, Maharashtra received wide rainfall from June-July. Since harvesting season February-May is over.Now cashew plant requires removal of water shoots , lower branches and criss-cross branches so that fresh flush appears before flowering.
The present weather condition and forecasted is very much congenial transplanting of fresh seedlings for proper establishment and growth.
