Sugarcane North
The dry weather is prevailing in the major sugarcane producing state as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Bihar. Harvesting of the crop is started. However, the sugar percentage in sugarcane is less due to high quantity of water in the crop which consequently effects the prices of the crop. The sugar mills have decided to buy at low prices.
The sugarcane department had estimated loss of almost 6 percent to the standing sugarcane crop due to flood in some districts.
In Bihar, the moisture is very helpful for the late sown February-March crop however the harvesting will start at the end of October for the early sown crop.

Chilli
The widespread rainfall in the major chilli producing states Tamil Nadu and Kerala will be beneficial for the growth of the transplanted chili crop. Excess rain water should be drained out from the field invariably for airation and better growth . However, good production of crop is expected in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
However regular rainfall in the North coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will be harmful for the crop.
