Crop Weather Report 04/12/2009




Pepper-
Recent rainfall received in growing belt of Pepper (i.e in Kerala & Tamilnadu) caused delay in the harvesting of the crop.
Lower stocks in International markets and expected increase in export demand in coming days can provide the support to the prices.

Maize
Harvesting of Kharif Maize has been completed and post harvest activities continue in the States of Mahrashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh .
Rainfall received in the districts of Maharashtra has discolored the grains.
Clear Sunshine & moderate temperature is beneficial for the winter maize in the states of East central India.
Market arrivals in the districts of Maharashtra have decreased by about 840 tonnes from 2nd Dec to 3rd Dec whereas a rise of about 15 Rs/Quintal were noticed during same time period.

Cashew
More than required rainfall in the Maharashtra and Goa in month of November has affected the cashew crop flowering. A fall in production is also expected in this region.
Light scattered rainfalls in the coastal region of Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka are beneficial for the cashew crop.

Cotton-
Harvesting of cotton crop in northern India is almost completed. Slightly higher temperature during day time and normal temperature during night facilitated the harvesting.
Winter rains in the states of Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Southern parts of AndhraPradesh is helpful for the long duration cotton crop.
Market arrivals in the districts of Punjab & Haryana have decreased by about 600 tonnes whereas increase of about 300 Rs/Quintal were noticed from 2nd Dec to 3rd Dec.
