Crop Weather Report 30/03/2010
Sugarcane-
Sugarcane planting in the states of Maharastra ,Karnataka,Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh have already been completed.
In the northern India sugarcane planting is almost completed in Punjab,Haryana,Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Dry weather,sunny days and abnormal higher temperature prevailing among the above states may affect the standing crop and quality of gur production and sugar recovery.
Sugar industry analysts predict a steep fall in prices of benchmark cane to Rs 20 a quintal in the next sugar season, starting October 2010, due to an “excessive” expansion in area under cultivation after two years of good returns.
Market arrivals of sugarcane increased sharply whereas prices increased by Rs100/quintal in the last two days.

Mustard
India
Current high temperatures in the states of Orissa and West Bengal and north-east states is conducive for post harvesting activities.
Current dry weather conditions,sunny days and high temperature low RH is conducive for harvesting and post harvesting of musturd crop in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan .
Post harvesting activities continued in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
Market arrivals of mustard increased sharply whereas prices increased by Rs70/quintal in the last two days.

Cardamom-
The post harvesting activities have been started in the state of Karnataka.
Harvesting activities are near completion of cardamom crop in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala .
Current normal and dry weather in the states of Kerela,Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are beneficial for the cardamom crop.

Turmeric
India
Harvesting and post harvest activities continued in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh , Orissa, Kerela, Tamil Nadu.
Current dry weather among above states will be beneficial for the matured turmeric crop and harvesting activities of the crop.
Erode Turmeric Merchants Association said Turmeric prices firm despite strong supplies, turmeric supplies across India have touched almost 50,000-60,000 bags daily,

Harvesting of turmeric crop has been started in parts of the country.
