Crop Weather Report 19/01/2010


Pepper
India
Harvesting and post harvesting activities of pepper continues in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerela and Karnataka.
Current dry weather is likely to continue for the coming days in these areas which will be beneficial for the harvesting & pot harvest activities of the crop.
The production of pepper crop in Kerela is expected to fall as compared to last year's 20000 tonnes.

Vietnam
Heavy rainfall recieved in the parts of Vietnam caused delay in the harvesting of pepper crop. According to Vietnam Pepper Association pepper production may fall 5-7 percent this year.





Tea
India
Post harvest activities of tea crop are almost complete in the major growing belt of tea in Assam & Tripura region.
Current dry weather is expected to continue in the coming days which will be beneficial for the post harvest activities of the crop.
Rainfall in the previous month and current dry weather in the states of Tamilnadu, Karnataka & Kerala is also benefecial for the tea crop.
According to Tea Board Statistics, tea production in south India has increased as compared to last year.

Sri lanka
Current dry weather is expected to continue for the next few days in the parts of the country.
Production of black tea in Srilanka is expected to be lower as compared to last year.




Coffee
India
Harvesting and post harvest activities of coffee crop continues in the southern parts of the country.
Current dry weather is favourable for the harvesting and post harvest activities of the crop.
However, untimely rains caused damage of coffee crop in the states of Kerala & Tamilnadu.
Coffee production is also expected to be lower by more than 5% this year. Coffee export in 2009 was decreased by 22% as compared to last year.

Colombia
Dry weather seems to continue in the parts of the country in the coming days. The production is likely to reduce around 30% in the country.

Brazil

Light rainfall is expected in the parts of country which will be helpful for coffee crop flowering. Coffee growers are expecting a good production of coffee around 45 to 48 miillion bags this year.






Chana

India
Mild temperature and late rains in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka is very much benefecial for the chana crop which is in fruiting stage.
The current low temperatures in the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, UttarPradesh, & Bihar is beneficial for chana crop which is in reproductive stage.
High humidity and fog in the northern India is conducive for pests and diseases.
