Crop Weather Report 16/02/2010


Wheat
The recent rainfalls and optimum temperature in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Rajasthan, UttarPradesh, is conducive for the wheat crop which is in boot leaf stage and flowering.
The early sown wheat crop in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, is benefited by the current normal temperatures in these states as crop is in maturing stage.
The eastern India weather condition is also favourable for wheat crop.
Prices of wheat rises as government plans to buy 24MT of wheat.
Market arrivals of wheat have increased very sharply whereas prices have increased upto Rs.140/quintal.

International
Argentina
Current rainfall occurs in some parts of the country is beneficial for wheat crop harvesting.
Argentina wheat exports were raised 1.0 MMT to 3.5 MMT and compares to 6.7 MMT last year.

Chana
India
The current rainfall and normal temperature in the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh is beneficial for flowering,fruiting and grain development of chana crop .
The current dry weather in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka is beneficial for the chana crop which is in grain development and maturity stages.
Market arrivals of chana have increased sharply whereas a slight change in the prices have been observed .

Australia
Dry and warm weather in the western part of the country will facilitate harvesting of chana crop.
Rainfall in the eastern parts of Australia may be harmful for the harvesting and post harvest activities of the crop.

Psyllium

India
The rising temperature in the major growing belt of the crop i.e. in Gujrat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are conducive for the psyllium crop which is in seed development stage and ripening.
It is also beneficial for the late sown psyllium crop.

Potato

The current rains in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar ,Assam will boost the production of late sown crop.
The current rains facilitate for summer production of potato in the higher hills.
Potato growers are recommended to sow in Februry-March to get better prices in May-June.
Market arrivals of potato have increased sharply whereas prices show a decrease of 50% during last two days.
